The Landscape Institute (LI) has recently published a set of Landscape and Carbon resources for landscape professionals to use to reduce their carbon impact. The resources build on the Landscape Carbon Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work, published in 2025.
The resources have been developed by Greengage Environmental in collaboration with LI members. They translate the recommendations of the Landscape and Carbon report, published by the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) in March 2024, into practical outputs for everyday use by landscape and wider-sector practitioners.
“The Landscape Institute is proud to play an essential role in creating innovative tools and resources that support our members and professionals across the built and natural environment in reducing carbon in development projects. Created through the expertise of our members and the dedication of our staff, these freely available resources reflect the strength of our professional community.
Rob Hughes, CEO, Landscape Institute
Collaboration across the built and natural environment is vital in tackling climate change and these tools represent another important step in enabling our sector to drive impact.”
The new free-to-use resources include a Landscape Carbon Tools Database and EPD Databank Database, as well as user guides on Environmental Product Declarations and Product Category Rules, to help sectors across the built and natural environment respond to the climate emergency by reducing carbon in projects.
