World Landscape Architecture (WLA) is the leading global platform dedicated to the profession. Since its inception, WLA has been the digital home for landscape architects, urban designers, and students, providing projects, editorial, profiles, news and the annual WLA Awards.
Our Mission
Sharing knowledge and championing the value of landscape architecture
Our goal is to promote the value of landscape architecture and elevate the visibility of the landscape designers who design the many spaces that make up our cities, regions and countries.
Who are we?
WLA was founded by Damian Holmes, a passionate landscape architect who recognised in 2007 that landscape architecture needed an independent voice beyond the country institutions and academia.
You may imagine from our name that we are a large organisation with offices in every major city, but we are a small operation that punches above our weight in publications and editorials compared with other industry organisations.
We have the same costs as all organisations, including web hosting, cybersecurity and countless hours of labour to curate and publish our content. As a small organisation, we rely on the generosity of members and sponsors to publish projects and advocate for landscape architecture.
What do we do?
The Global Portfolio: We publish a daily curated selection of landscape projects, from sprawling “sponge city” masterplans to intimate courtyards.
The WLA Awards: Our annual awards program is a well-renowned program judged by a panel of international experts. The WLA Awards honour excellence, innovation, and sustainability across professional and student categories.
News & Insights: From profiles with landscape architects to editorial and news about the latest trends and tools, we keep the profession informed about everything they need to know.
Product News & Product Profiles: We publish product news (launches, new lines, etc) and product profiles of our sponsors’ products, including site furniture, lighting, canopies and more.
