Nestled on the coast of Cannes, France, La Perle d’Azur is a seamless dialogue between built architecture and the natural Riviera landscape. Originally challenged by unbalanced proportions and disjointed transitions, the villa’s potential has been fully realised by design firm Marcoux Mathern & Associés alongside landscape architect Aurélien Liuktus (Nelumbo).
Unveiling the building’s full potential
Though recently built, the villa had unbalanced architecture, with diverse facades, a grand yet uninviting entrance, assertive thresholds, and uneven proportions. Marcoux Mathern & Associés aimed to reveal its potential by refining proportions and smoothing transitions from arrival to intimate spaces.

A villa in dialogue with the Riviera
Externally, the property maintains a strong link with its Azure environment. Custom sliding screens adjust transparency and create cohesion across the facades. The garden offers a reinterpretation of a Mediterranean landscape—featuring olive trees, lavender, inviting terraces—and includes a restored stone chapel, serving as a poetic stop along the outdoor pathway.

Resolutely forward-looking, while respecting the existing framework, La Perle d’Azur stands out as a benchmark villa on the Riviera, where transformation restores the building to its former glory.
