ASPECT Studios has delivered a new, vibrant and attractive public realm for the Hart’s Mill Surrounds in Port Adelaide. Located adjacent to the wharf and with the backdrop of one of Adelaide’s most iconic heritage listed industrial buildings, the new space includes extensive new grassed recreation areas with trees, picnic and BBQ areas as well as multifunctional spaces for events and markets.

The Bank Street Parklet project is a significant development contributing to the laneway links of Adelaide recognised by Jan Gehl between the River Torrens / Adelaide Oval and Central Market/ Victoria Square precinct. With over 12,000 pedestrians a day and vibrant activity in the evenings and early mornings, the project dreamed of an innovative solution with new public amenities inherent of high urban design values. The design would be robust, durable, and flexible in its application to meet a difficult sloping topographic context. As a revitalised shared street it would unify a complex array of contradicting standards and approval guidelines.

The Plaza is located within The District at Auckland Airport and was designed with the dual objective of becoming a new public space for The Quad precinct, whilst also providing the landscape and urban setting for Auckland Airport’s new property marketing suite – Te Kaitaka (The Cloak) designed by Fearon Hay Architects.

Warringah Council has announced the winner of the Walter Gors Park Design Ideas Competition, in which Council sought innovative ideas to transform this urban space into a revitalised park to reflect the energy, creativity, and diversity of Warringah and a revitalised Dee Why Town Centre.
Sydney based landscape architecture studio Corkery Consulting won the competition with “Wa(l)ter Gors Park”, which uses water as a unifying element within the public domain that is symbolic of renewal, movement and connectivity.

The Suneden Sensory Playspace is demonstrative of what can be achieved on a modest budget, when landscape architects re-imagine standard building material into amazing new play opportunities. Suneden Sensory Playspace is the result of the imagination and innovation WAX Design and the local community. Using a tiny budget and community support, WAX Design has created an amazing 200m2 playspace that excites, simulates and challenges the various abilities of the students at the school.
The unique and entertaining designs use a host of standard building and landscape material to create a series of outdoor rooms that incorporate explorative and sensory activities that help to improve student’s body awareness, problem solving, cognition, creativity, enhance their overall learning abilities and above all increase their happiness.
