Take-Out®, designed by Rodrigo Torres for Landscape Forms, reframes connected seating as a flexible system for shaping how people gather in outdoor spaces. Defined by its lightweight construction, refined geometry and modularity, the line operates less as a fixed set of objects and more as a toolkit for composing social environments.

At its core, Take-Out is guided by clarity of form and human-centered design. Clean lines, balanced proportions and a quiet architectural presence allow it to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of contexts, from campuses and public plazas to hospitality settings. This visual simplicity is paired with a high degree of adaptability. Individual units can be easily repositioned and combined into linear runs, face-to-face arrangements or more complex configurations that respond to site conditions and patterns of use.

Recent additions to the line expand this system across a broader range of scales and interactions. Take-Out wedge introduces a subtle angular shift that alters orientation, supporting both shared outward views and more direct interpersonal engagement. Arranged together, this geometry enables a variety of spatial compositions, including radial compositions, staggered runs and fully enclosed social hubs. Take-Out tall extends the system vertically, accommodating standing-height interaction and more informal modes of gathering, while Take-Out mini adapts the design for younger users, supporting outdoor learning and multi-age environments with appropriately scaled proportions.

Together, these elements allow designers to choreograph interaction through arrangement. Proximity, posture and orientation become adjustable variables that can support a spectrum of interactions, from individual pause to collaborative exchange. Connector brackets further enhance this flexibility by enabling adjacent units to be secured when a more fixed configuration is required.

Material clarity reinforces the system’s performance and longevity. Sheet metal tops and extruded aluminum supports provide a durable foundation, while a robust powdercoat finish ensures resilience in high-use outdoor environments. Gently curved edges improve comfort and contribute to the collection’s approachable, inviting character.

By combining modularity with a refined design language, Take-Out expands the role of site furnishings in the public realm. It offers landscape architects a means to actively shape space through adaptable infrastructure, supporting evolving patterns of use while maintaining a consistent visual and material identity.
