HS2 Ltd has released new images revealing more of the design for a reimagined Euston station ahead of further community consultation. The images point to the importance of the public realm and the drive to revitalise the area to make it a lively and well-connected place to live and work, with high-quality open spaces and healthy streets.

The designs have been developed by a team from Arup, WSP, Grimshaw, Haptic and LDA Design (landscape architects), working with HS2’s Station Construction Partner, Mace Dragados JV (MDJV).

The proposals transform Euston into a new accessible transport hub. They are based on a more efficient, ten-platform station, which can now be built in a single stage.

Updates include two new biodiverse open spaces, Western Gardens and Northern Gardens, and a revamp of Euston Square Gardens. Comfortable Squares will bookend the station to the north and south, and there will be improved pedestrian links across Hampstead Road to Regent’s Park Estate and Regent’s Park, northwards to Camden Town, and across Euston Road to Bloomsbury. There will also be a cycle route with bike parking and cycle hire.

Consultation events begin this week and are part of a year-long programme of outreach. HS2 will provide final designs in spring 2023 and explain how feedback has shaped these proposals.
