LDA Design has won a mini competition to create a playful ‘super nature’ setting for Alison Brooks’s new residential towers on the edge of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The towers are part of IQL (International Quarter London), an exciting new mixed-use development by Lendlease and London Continental Railways (LCR) in Stratford, east London. Adding around 350 new homes to the area, IQL further cements London’s exciting shift east.
LDA Design wants to create a comfortable, community feel, turning the residential part of the site into an invitational and distinctive new neighbourhood with public gardens for all to share and enjoy. A family of inclusive social spaces will link to the Park, bringing people in close contact with nature. The design will complement IQL’s commercial areas and connect well to the surrounding streets.
As LDA Design project lead for IQL, Scott Carroll, explains: “Our designs for IQL are bold, fantastical even, with Alice in Wonderland as a rich source of inspiration. These new shared spaces will relate to their surroundings but also be markedly different.
“We are working with Lendlease and Alison Brooks Architects to create a love letter to community, play and nature – a canvas that invites people to socialise, a place with a magical atmosphere that makes people smile.”
