MKSK has recently announced that Landscape Architecture Bureau [LAB] – a landscape architecture firm in Washington, DC – is joining MKSK. The MKSK team is looking forward to collaborating with the talented and dynamic staff of [LAB] at MKSK’s studios in Columbus, Chicago, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Cincinnati, Louisville, Detroit, Cleveland, Atlanta, Greenville, Orlando, and now D.C.
LAB’s Founding Principal, Jonathan Fitch, Principals Tim Bragan and Joe Chambers, along with the seven design professionals in the studio – Melissa Block, Gaëlle Gourmelon, Alexandra Lemke, Ainsley Rhodes, Erin Schregardus, Xibei Song and Lyn Wenzel – will continue to provide the same award-winning designs and professional service from their office on Capitol Hill. The combined firm will offer its mid-Atlantic clients an expanded range of services that will include planning and urban design in addition to landscape architecture.
Jonathan Fitch’s role in MKSK will increase to include advising on the design direction of projects around the country. “I plan to use my continuing passion for creating authentic urban places to be a champion for the redemptive and energizing power of memorable landscapes in our cities.” Tim Bragan will carry on as MKSK’s DC Design Principal, focusing on continuing to deliver the innovative and elegant design solutions that have always distinguished LAB as a leading design firm. Joe Chambers, in addition to his continued involvement in projects in the mid-Atlantic, will become a leader in MKSK’s research and sustainability practice.
Eric Lucas, MKSK’s CEO, says, “In [LAB], we have found a wonderful partner executing at the highest levels of design in our nation’s thriving Capitol. Together, we will practice with purpose and apply our passion for people and place to solve our cities’ and communities’ most pressing issues.”
