Alumni Green, the most signiﬁcant outdoor space on the UTS (University of Technology, Sydney) City Campus, will be transformed into a vibrant, tree-lined city space in the latest design to be unveiled under its City Campus Master Plan. The proposal by ASPECT Studios won the design competition recently held by the university. Inspired by some of the world’s great public spaces, the design creates a central meeting place for the university community, ﬁlled with vibrant student-focused spaces.

JMD Design were commissioned by Stockland to design document and provide construction quality advice for a feature park within a new subdivision project at Glenmore Ridge, Penrith. The eastern edge of the new park had been designed and built some ten years ago, hence the name Jacaranda Park. It was decided that the new park should break with the gardenesque image of the eastern half and create a new strong identity to the new suburb dropping away to the west.

This Urban Design Strategy for the regeneration of Sydney’s second largest CBD encompasses 31 ha on the Parramatta River foreshore. The project analysed key development sites, heritage items, ESD, open space, water and cultural assets as a basis for building a new city brand and waterfront.

The Headland Park will be a grand harbour park for Sydney linked by a continuous waterfront promenade stretching from Woolloomooloo to the Anzac Bridge. The Park will consist of six hectares of waterfront parkland at Millers Point and will be an exciting addition for residents and visitors to Sydney.
In October 2009, the government launched an international search for a team to design the Headland Park and urban waterfront at Barangaroo. The winning design team of Johnson Pilton Walker, in association with Peter Walker and Partners Landscape Architecture continues to work with the Authority.

#UPDATE – Walk the line has now been installed on the Streets of Sydney as part of the STREET WORKS initiative of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects(AILA), NSW. The various sites including Walk the line will be in place from 21 October 2011 until January 2012.
HASSELL is to reactivate under-utilised city spaces with Walk the Line, a simple painted line that turns into a game in selected areas. Street corners will become hopscotch pitches, bat tennis courts and marbles fields; stairs will turn into waterfalls and road crossings transformed into arcade games.
