This will be the largest, all round skatepark facility in the UAE with areas for novices through to professionals. Enhancing an iconic park setting and creating a focal hub for the community of Jumeirah. the skate park is a unique facility due to its functionality, dynamic uses, its striking aesthetics and contemporary design. All this will position the plaza as one of the flagship public space developments in Dubai. The skate park was designed and built by Convic; a well-known Skatepark design & build specialist from Australia with an established local office in Dubai.

Las Violetas Garden | Huelva, Spain | Juan José Fernández Acosta

“Las Violetas” Garden was designed in 2013 in the Costa de la Luz region of Huelva, Spain. The garden is 1100 m2 and originally was mainly lawn and trees in poor condition. The concept for the gardens was to create “Las Violetas” garden is a more sustainable garden, saving up to 60% of water consumption, and reducing both inorganic fertilizers and pesticides contents in to respect the environment.

No less important is the aesthetical value of the Garden; At this stage I decided to highlight a deeply arabesque character of Las Violetas Garden, where the enclosure dominates the garden with decorative detailed walls; and once inside, the geometrical design creates a peaceful and garden for quiet relaxation.

The urban quarters south of Frankfurter Allee are low-density areas with a high green rate („green islands“). Small squares or green spaces accentuate the district and become sites with high amenity values. The design concept aimed to strengthen these characteristics and to enhance a distinctive identity.

STUDENT Project | Waterfront Regeneration of Maren | Carlos Dias

Student Project
The project was developed for the city of Södertälje in Sweden which is located in one bay of the lake Mälaren, in where it joins the Baltic Sea through a canal and incorporates the small lake Maren. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the lakes Mälaren and Maren did not have a connection between them and this way the city developed around these two waterfronts.

Open Hearth Park at the Former Sydney Tar Ponds

For nearly a century, the shores along Sydney Harbor bordered one of North America’s largest steel mills and coke ovens, making the steel industry an integral part of the region’s economy and culture. But when the plants closed in 2001, they left tons of industrial waste behind, creating a deep wound that divided three neighborhoods from their waterfront and from each other for nearly 13 years. With the community’s strong economic and emotional ties to the site, the landscape architects led a design effort that closed the divide, healed the environmental scar and boosted the community’s reputation and pride.

The new neighborhood is a place of encounter. The lodging is residence and center of life for about 1.400 inhabitants and offers through its creative openness both space to the residents, as well as to the surrounding residential areas and work places. City thrives on diversity and attractive medium-through exchanges and among themselves. And one can easily imagine that the green neighborhood offers the different user groups, such as families with children, singles, shared apartments much room for development, but also the employees, by for example Oerlicon and Inficon, a special place for lunch.
