Waste Recycling Showcase Gallery is located in Futian District, Shenzhen, the project was a worn-out concrete passage at the entrance to the garage.

To better implement the requirements of Shenzhen Futian District’s domestic waste classification standards and showcase the achievements of waste management in Futian District over the past decade, the project aimed to revitalize and regenerate the site by using recycled construction waste materials, turning waste into treasure. This created a multifunctional ecological promenade garden that would serve as an important venue for external environmental protection promotion, displaying waste classification science, as well as an ecological green garden for daily leisure and recreation in the park.

The construction of the Waste Recycling Showcase Gallery aimed to better promote the concept of energy recycling and carbon reduction in local area. The project was transformed from a long-term unused garage entrance adjacent to a public building. It utilized local low-maintenance and low-carbon plants and “three kinds of wastes”: unused land, recycled solid waste, discarded vegetable and fruit boxes. Upon completion, it became an environmental education base, ecological botanical garden, and traditional promenade in one for educational, artistic, and recreational experience.

The zero-carbon environmental protection and ecological concept of this project involves multiple aspects such as smart cities, green buildings, sustainable transportation, environmental education, and policy support.

Comprehensive measures are adopted to realize low-carbon, environmental and sustainable development and to establish a healthy, clean, sustainable social and natural environment.


01. Ecological Restoration:
By protecting natural ecosystem, restoring degraded ecological environment and promoting biodiversity, we maintain ecological balance and preserve the ecosystem integrity.

02. Smart Waste Disposal:
By installing smart microbial waste automated treatment devices, utilizing advanced technologies and innovative solutions, kitchen waste can be reduced, harmlessly disposed, and recycled on-site. This will enhance the city’s energy efficiency, resource utilization efficiency, and ultimately improve the quality of life for residents.

03. Vertical Afforestation:
By adding vertical greening to the facade of the buildings, energy consumption and carbon emissions can be reduced through optimized building design and operational management. At the same time, it can regulate indoor temperature and emphasize the health and comfort of the indoor environment.


04. Environment Preservation:
Stress on environment preservation including the saving and utilization of water resources, soil conservation and biodiversity preservation. Apply environmental technologies and management measures to reduce pollution and damage to the environment.

05. Circular Economy:
By implementing waste sorting, recycling and resource circular utilization, we can reduce resource consumption and waste. This helps to alleviate the pressure on natural resources, while also reducing waste emissions and environmental pollution.
06. Environmental Education:
It is crucial to emphasize the importance of environmental education and awareness enhancement. Through educational and promotional activities, we can raise public awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development, cultivate people’s environmental consciousness and action capabilities, and refine the essence of environmentally-friendly culture with Chinese characteristics.
