The Green Boulevard Praterstraße ending at Nestroyplatz Square

Cuulbox are behind the concept of transforming the green boulevard of Praterstraße, which ends at Nestroyplatz Square. Landscape architects from Studio 3:0 translated theoretical recommendations into reality – this collaboration resulted in one of the most interesting public spaces in the city.

They succeeded in changing the street plan and reclaiming more space for pedestrians and cyclists. The boulevards is an integral part of Route 1, connecting Reumannplatz and the WU Campus, as well as the long-distance North Corridor cycling route. Today, up to a million cyclists travel it daily. By removing parts of the asphalt and replacing it with tiles with better water permeability and cooling properties, they created a climate-friendly public space. The extensive planting of new trees and the addition of water features also helped. Atypical mmcité PIN shelters with wooden slats and benches from the Lago range complement the key Nestroyplatz Square.
