Paignton and Preston Seafront masterplan by LDA Design has been unveiled by Torbay Council.
The design seeks to improve the sea defences at Paignton and Preston seafronts and protect and improve the precious open spaces along the seafront. The Council see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve the seafront whilst protecting the town from sea level rise. The design seeks to create a happy, healthy, and vibrant place that celebrates the unique qualities of the local seaside.
Kirsty Barker, LDA Design project lead for Paignton and Preston seafront improvements, said: “This seafront masterplan is a coming together of the people of Paignton and Preston, community partnerships and groups and local businesses, and shows what can be achieved through an open and democratic engagement process. We have shaped the plans and visuals in response to comments we have received through the three-stage consultation process, culminating in a transformed seafront with multi-functional flood defences, a new pedestrianised promenade, geological play, seating terraces, and biodiverse planting.”
