Design thinking
In modern cities, high buildings and large mansions have taken the place of terraces and open halls. armoured concrete has taken the place of stones, grass and wood. However, Chinese people have never stopped desiring to live in courtyards. The design for One Central Mansion focuses on the urban-dwelling dream on the basis of Bai Juyi’s poem “Out in the city hall. Away in the forest”, aiming to create the peach orchard wonderland in the bustling cities.
Space
The Frontyard of One Central Mansion creates a ceremonial feeling. The Backyard represents a cozy life. Followed by continuous courts with different layers of deep yards and chinese-styled dwellings.
Sun in the front sun – the entrance of the gate is forged according to the royal palaces. Bronze lions are established on both sides of the one-hundred-feet-long facade and three rooms, demonstrating the solemnness and grandness of the entrance.
Backyard – With oriental people’s complex with courtyard, based on the combination of the conventional residential courtyard and Chinese philosophy of leisure living, the design strives to incorporate the poetic and artistic conception into modern geometric courtyard space. The northern section witnesses spring, summer, autumn and winter. The southern section embodies the sun, the moon, cloud and water, thereby involving the poetic notion in life and courtyard in mind.
Conclusion
The landscape design of One Central Mansion focuses on the modern inheritance of “shape and soul”.
The oriental landscape style demonstrates conventional meanings and modern shape, so as to forge the fashion of MADE IN CHINA and update the definition of “modern Chinese styles of residential gardens”.
