LDA Design’s bursary award scheme aims to support students studying in the UK with the costs of their studies.
LDA Design is awarding three bursaries, worth £2,000 each, to support and encourage landscape architecture, urban design or planning students in the UK, at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Recipients will also be offered four weeks of paid work experience in one of LDA Design’s eight UK studios. Bursary awardees have gone on to take up full-time employment with LDA Design.
LDA Design intends for one or more of the bursaries to be allocated to students who have faced financial or other challenges in pursuing further education.
The theme of the 2024/5 Bursary bursary is Regenerative Britain. LDA Design want students to think through the big moves the UK should make to tackle the challenges the country is facing from climate breakdown, a collapse in biodiversity and growing social inequality. How do we undo bad habits, overcome small thinking or demand more? Can the UK’s landscape point to be a better, fairer, healthier future? Could we travel less, live more?
LDA Design are looking for students to submit 500-words on one priority idea that they would like to see happen, plus one headline image that captures their thinking. This could be a policy map for the UK, a spatial plan for a specific place or a sketch or visualisation. Other illustrations can also be included to bring the idea to life.
