Kotchakorn Voraakhom, Chairwoman of Landscape Architects Without Borders (LAWB) IFLA APR recently put out the call for landscape architects to provide their hopes, fears and aspirations for a post-covide world.
Through all the distancing and uncertainty, as the chairwoman of Landscape Architects Without Borders (LAWB), IFLA APR, I am committed to sharing with you the real meaning of the borderlessness of our community in this difficult time. With our IFLA APR President Mr.Takano and the LAWB network, we have been working to amplify the ideas and direction of individuals creating positive impacts in their communities across Asia-Pacific, to address both COVID-19 and the climate crisis.
As we all await for COVID-19 vaccines and the resolution of this global pandemic, we’ve learned that this crisis has directly caused the outbreak and reflects the imbalanced relationship of human and nature. We cannot wait for any vaccine to cure our environment and protect our future. To heal our world now, we need everyone’s cooperation.
As each country approaches a different stage of this global transition, we’ve rounded up insights and visions from 14 nominees across the region to share with our community to stay strong together. Their interviews will be published weekly throughout the whole month. For this project, we’d also like to hear your voice–our voice as a collective message calling out for both a sustainable and equitable future reimagined.
One thing is clear: the global injustices we’ve witnessed is not the new normal we want to continue with. As ambitious thinkers, visionary dreamers and bold achievers, I know for a fact that our regional community of built environment designers and landscape architects is very capable of making our world a better place.
Tell us your hopes, fears and aspirations for the new world you envision. We will be collecting everyone’s ideas and sharing them with our Landscape Without Borders Community. We look forward to hearing from you.
