mmcité presents a new collection of freestanding furniture designed for public spaces. Lightweight, durable, and stackable — these qualities define the core piece of the collection: the chair. The complete collection also includes a backless stool, a bar stool, and two types of tables. The primary material is steel, complemented by various types of wood.

“Flaneur is our response to the changing nature of public spaces. They are becoming more relaxed, intimate, and safer – and that’s why we spend more of our free time in them. We adapt them to our needs,” says David Karásek, owner and lead designer of mmcité. “The freestanding collection designed for public spaces includes a chair, a stool, a bar stool, and two types of tables,” adds Karásek.

The collection is primarily designed for lively urban streets that function both day and night, are dynamic, and frequently change according to the situation. It’s ideal for café terraces thanks to its low maintenance and stackability. It also fits well into parks or semi-public and private spaces such as university campuses or company premises.

“The main advantages are lightness, stability, and stackability. These features are especially appreciated in multifunctional environments where situations change daily – such as cultural institutions. Another benefit is the breadth of the collection – thanks to various seating types, it meets a wide range of needs for gathering in public spaces,” explains co-designer Jitka Trčková.

Simple and subtle, as if Jean Marais were about to enjoy his favorite cocktail on it. Yet the design is incredibly strong and durable. It proudly reveals its origin: the street. The cohesive Flaneur outdoor furniture collection is a response to the changing character of public space. To its newfound relaxation, trust, increased safety, and the growing tendency to feel at ease in it, as if in the privacy of one’s own garden.

Chairs, bar stools, and tables from the Flaneur collection can be easily moved within a park, café, or restaurant. If needed, they can be stacked with ease.
Flaneur is a collection of unanchored urban furniture that can be easily moved as needed. The chair weighs six kilograms(13.2lbs), and the stool four(8.8lbs), making them light and easily maneuverable for visitors to cafes or parks. At the same time, they are stable and durable enough to withstand wind and prevent tipping. The collection is designed to be timeless, avoiding fleeting trends, which contributes to its longevity.
