City of Melbourne approves annual budget including the Greenline and New Parks

The City of Melbourne recently approved the 2025-26 budget, which allocates $44 million (AUD) to create more green spaces and upgrades to parks. The budget provides funding for new projects, including the first stage of the Greenline, construction of the Northern Undercroft and City Road park, upgrading the ACCA forecourt, and continuing the transformation of Southbank Boulevard and Southbank Promenade.

The city is also progressing with the continuing the Pocket Park Program at Bedford Street, Chelmsford Street, Miles & Dodds Street Reserve, Normandy Street. The budget also includes continue the progress of various other plans including stages 2 & 3 of the Greenline, allocating funds for Urban Forest Fund and plant 3,000 trees a year.

The approved budget is a relief to the landscape architecture profession that current works projects will be implemented and conceptual work will continue for some key landmark projects in the city.
