Recently the development proposals for the Pier 1 Hotel and Residential adjacent to the Brooklyn Bridge Park where presented to the public. The plan to place development adjacent to Brooklyn Bridge Park is an interesting idea that has been used to great effect before in New York and other cities around the world.
Several developers including Dermot, Extell, RAL, SDS, Starwood Capital, Toll Brothers and Two trees submitted proposals that where presented to the public. The project at Pier 1 is a mixed-use project, which includes hotel, residential and restaurant uses. The hotel portion of the site will accommodate between 170-225 rooms and the residential portion of the site will accommodate between 150-180 units. The site will also include parking facilities, park restrooms and park support facilities.
Various landscape architects including West 8, Matthews Nielsen, Site, DLand Studio, SCAPE, joined with Architects from around the world to produce varying schemes that provide different ideas and interfaces between the park and the development.
