Bang Namphung Public Park | Bangkok, Thailand | STUDIO TAILA

This project is a part of “60 Suan 60 Pansa”. The project’s purposes are to create more green area and preserve the exiting from decrease and deterioration in the city. It has been considered with landowner’s (Siam Rajathanee Co., Ltd.) sharing an area for sustainable benefits to the community.

 “BANG NAMPHUENG PUBLIC PARK”  where this almost 4,000 square metre project  is located in Bang Kachao. It is a Chao Phraya river plains that made a lot of plant nutrients. The local people’s originally career is the agriculturist that’s why most of the area as became orchard. They bring attention from the bees to live in. Due  to the urbanization, the new generations leave their lands, causing most of the agricultural areas were abandoned. Nowaday, Bang Namphueng becomes to ecotourism attraction and it is getting more popular continuously.

On collecting data,  after meeting with many groups, local peoples expect that the project can be resolved their problems and responded to their requirements with sustainable future development. Their requirements consists :

1. ON WEEKDAY :
– Gathering area for activities area.
– Public park, playground, after school child center.
– Neighborhood  vegetable area. 

2. ON WEEKEND :
– Waiting area, local market
– A landmark and activities area.
– Bike park, toilets.

Moreover, with help from student volunteers to make surveying and data gathering by mapping process which is the method that is selected to explore the area. Each of the groups would be plotted the objects on papers following group issue. they are :

  1. SPACE AND CIRCULATION
  2. EXISTING PLANTS        
  3. ANIMALS AND HABITATS       

After that, we would combine and kept them as a design database for this project.

On the design process, the main design element was inspired by a beehive. It represents the local “Bang Namphueng” Moreover, The project site is one of the most important areas of biology and “THAI TRADITION DITCH AND DYKE ORCHARD” So, we created the floating platforms above the existing level. So, the benefits hem are :

– To keep the existing trees and green area of Bangkok.
– To preserve identities of local career characteristic and biospecies.
– To make linkages between local – local, local – tourist and human – biospecies.

Finally, we realized that not only to consider with focus on social environmental quality development local’s needs, to success stakeholder’s intentions and goals but also, “Collaboration Process” on any work processes are such important “key” success of this project as well.
