The Taichung High-Speed Railway Section Development, which is set to reshape the city in central Taiwan, recently held its groundbreaking ceremony. The Benoy design team, which is responsible for the architecture, masterplanning, and landscape architecture, was invited to attend the media event and groundbreaking ceremony.
The mixed-use Transit-Oriented Development in Taichung is set to transform the city’s skyline, harmoniously blending luxury, commerce, and culture. The landscape design, inspired by Taichung’s landscape and heritage, focuses on three main pillars: ‘Mall in the Park’, ‘The Hub’, and ‘The Gateway’.
- The Mall in the Park concept integrates the mall with lush greenery, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience with unique landscape themes.
- The Hub serves as a vibrant lifestyle nexus, combining retail, entertainment, dining, arts, and culture.
- The Gateway aims to establish a fresh entry point to Taichung, leaving a lasting impression on visitors.
Echoing the city’s essence, the landscape design interprets nature and incorporates Taichung’s surroundings, blending the sea and mountains. Water features, such as the Coastal Forest and Floating Grove, create a serene ambiance throughout the development. The design includes sustainable initiatives like the Eco-Garden and Sanctuary for hotel guests.
Water elements flow through the mall, offering a nature-inspired shopping experience. At the Cloud Valley on the fifth level, guests enjoy breathtaking views of Taichung’s skyline, with outdoor spaces for social gatherings and artistic performances. The Enchanted Valley features a vertical forest with light and sound displays, embodying cultural vibrancy.
“The landscape design concept embodies a vision of urban utopia where nature and commerce coalesce in perfect harmony. By seamlessly blending architectural innovation with ecological stewardship, cultural vibrancy, and community engagement, we aspire to create an enduring legacy that transcends mere function and becomes a true symbol of Taichung’s progressive spirit.”
