The artistic skate/ BMX path at Woodward East was the original brain child of Gary Ream. Gary had a vision to create the path of the future. This would be a walking path and cart path that was comprised of a number of artistic elements that could be used in many different ways. Along with California Skateparks, Bill Minadeo and Nate Wessel designed the initial 600 lineal feet part of the path last year comprising of concrete sculptural elements.
This year another 800 feet was added to the existing path and eventually the overall plan is to continue expanding this skate/BMX path over the next five years. The dynamic design was built so new skateable elements could be added to it without the design losing its aesthetic appeal. The whole path connects the upper and lower parts of Camp Woodward, allowing riders to skate from the top of Camp Woodward down to breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the cafeteria.
California Skateparks wants to continue to push the design incorporations of skate and BMX to create things that have never before been seen.
