Six Finalists selected for Zaryadye Park Design Competition


Last week we told you that 87 of the 90 submissions were eligible for entry into Zaryadye Park Design Competition. Yesterday, the jury held an eight-hour long meeting the Jury and selected six teams out of 90 applications. The main criteria was composition of a consortium, consisting of representatives of various specialties, and consortium portfolio. On 27 September 2013 the six participants will provide landscape and architectural concepts for Zaryadye park. After the technical expertise these projects will be presented to the Jury early November 2013. And later on the Winner will be involved in implementation of the project.

The six finalists include teams lead by:

Turenscape (China)

West 8 (the Netherlands)

Gustafson Porter (UK)

WLA | Calls for Submissions


WLA Landscape Architecture Magazine is about to undergo a reformat and relaunch for edition 09. WLA will include selected projects that have been published on World Landscape Architecture with added images, information and background to each project. WLA will also include more reviews and interviews for readers. WLA 09 will have an improved format that will be easier to read and navigate.

We are looking for great conceptual and built projects from design studios, firms, freelancers, students from across the world. Submissions would preferably be designed or completed in the last 12 months. Its easy to submit a project and we look forward to seeing some interesting and diverse work.

How to submit your project?

1. Select your 5 to 10  best images  with a minimum 800 pixels wide at 75 dpi in jpg format.

2. Write 500-750 words about the project.

3.  List the project name, location, design firm, year and credits for the images and text.

4. Include a note stating that you or the company  ”own the copyright to the project, images and text and give World Landscape Architecture the right to publish the work digitally and/or in hard copy format.”

5. Email the files and text to [email protected] with the subject “WLA09

Green Square Town Centre new library and plaza winner announced
City of Sydney has announced Stewart Hollenstein in association with Colin Stewart Architects has won the competition to design the Green Square Town Centre library and plaza. The competition attracted over 160 submissions from around the world.5 designs teams were shortlisted back in late 2012 and the winner was announced last week.

Averbode Abbey Square wins Public Space Award 2013 in Belgium


Back in September 2012, we featured the Averbode Abbey Square by OMGEVING in Belgium and we were amazed at the reflective quality of the space and the attention to detail of the design and construction. OMGEVING has just won the Public Space Award 2013 for the Averbode Abbey’s Square. The Public Space Award 2013 was presented during the Day of the Public Space at Brussels Expo by Brussels’ Minister for Public Works Brigitte Grouwels.

WLA #08 Submissions are open

The 07 edition of WLA Landscape Architecture Quarterly Magazine was recently published and the search is on again for great landscape architecture projects for the 08 edition. We have opened submissions for the 08 edition of WLA and we are looking for interesting projects (built and unbuilt) from across the world. We accept submissions from landscape architects (professionals and students), urban designers, landscape designers, architects, artists, and other built environment professionals but all projects must be focused on the landscape.
