The S-Line is a modern streetcar set in an abandoned 2-mile long freight corridor. It extends from the existing light rail station in South Salt Lake, through a diverse community of existing neighborhoods, to Salt Lake City’s Sugar House Business District.

The competition was part of the Realdania initiative “Future Suburbs”, which aims to create debate and visions for the future sustainable development of suburbs in Denmark.

Streetmix is a free interactive street section builder that allows anyone to be able to build up a street with various lanes and urban elements including lighting, trees, bike lanes, light rail, signage. It’s a quick and easy to use web application that lets landscape architects and urban planners mockup various street section options for the same street.

Curtin University has embarked on a massive urban renewal project focused on creating a knowledge city in Perth Western Australia. Code-named Curtin City the project will deliver a new population of students, researchers and residents of up to 70,000 people living and working in Perth’s newest knowledge economy. Connected to the city by the MAX light rail transit, Curtin City will be only minutes from downtown Perth enabling the rapid exchange of business and research ideas.

The proposed Colorado Avenue Esplanade Project will integrate the Expo Light Rail into the Downtown, streamlining the existing intersection functions and guiding passengers to their business, shopping, cultural and entertainment destinations. The project accomplishes this with a combination of major urban design improvements at the Downtown Expo Station Plaza and along Colorado Avenue between 4th Street and Ocean Avenue. The improvements organize and simplify the flow of pedestrians, vehicles and bicycles, and provide more detailed directional cues such as new signage and green street improvements that clarify pathways, improve wayfinding, enhance landscaping, and provide public art.

The Atlanta BeltLine is an infrastructure framework around which the urban core of Atlanta will grow by as many as 100,000 people. This loop of old railroads is being transformed into a 22-mile transit greenway that combines light-rail transit, parks and multi-use trails to generate economic growth and protect quality-of-life in 45 historic neighborhoods surrounding the central city. The BeltLine Corridor Design will establish typologies for all landscape architecture elements, wayfinding and signage, infrastructure and development interface. With a phased implementation plan, some components are being implemented even as design work is ongoing.
