 ©Craig Sheppard The first phase of Singapore’s dramatic Gardens by the Bay project opens to the public on 29th June following completion of the 54-hectare £500m Bay South Garden by a world-class British design team led by Bath-based landscape architects, Grant Associates. The ALEXANDER S.ONASSIS PUBLIC BENEFIT FOUNDATION has launched Rethink Athens, a European architectural competition for the re-constitution of Athens city centre along the axis of Panepistimiou str., and invites all interested candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria to register. Purpose of the Competition is the selection of the Architect (Person or legal entity), that will undertake the design of the architectural public space for the creation of a New City Center in Athens along the axis of Panepistimiou Street. The ReSpace Competition is an effort to raise awareness of reuse materials while showcasing creative and successful small space designs inspired by their use. Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, the Raleigh Chapter of Architecture for Humanity, and the American Institute of Architects North Carolina Triangle Section are pleased to announce the ReSpace Competition. This design contest is an effort to raise awareness of reusable materials while showcasing creative and successful small space designs inspired by reuse. The ReSpace Competition asks designers to approach the process of designing a small, transportable space with an emphasis on the material “ingredients” that will shape it. The design team responsible for the celebrated Beijing National Stadium, which was built for the 2008 Olympic Games has come together again in London in 2012 for the Serpentine’s acclaimed annual commission, presented as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad.
