Founded in 1989, OJB Landscape Architecture is a collaborative practice dedicated to landscape architecture and planning. Driven by a passion for creating beauty and uncovering unexpected moments in the natural world, OJB is committed to transforming public spaces in ways that inspire connection, discovery, and delight. Central to our mission is the integration of ecology and play, crafting environments that foster meaningful relationships between people and nature. We believe that architecture and landscape can work together to build humanistic and resilient places. Across our portfolio, a common thread is the aspiration to treat each site as an authentic and enduring reflection of its mission, context, and time.

OJB strives to meld the artistry and science of landscape architecture. Through our research arm, OJB*lab, we harness data analysis, examining site conditions, climate, and social dynamics to inform designs and drive innovation. The *lab collaborates closely with early design exploration teams to experiment, research, brand, and publish, continually asking challenging questions to refine our process. Our work is guided by ecological, environmental, infrastructural, and social goals, ensuring that every design decision contributes to a healthier and more vibrant built environment.

With offices in Houston and Dallas, Texas; Boston; Philadelphia; Denver; and San Diego, our team includes more than 100 professionals –landscape architects, architects, planners, horticulturists and plant scientists, and allied experts. OJB has been recognized with more than 150 significant national and international awards for projects, including a record-setting four ULI Open Space Awards in the past decade. This awards competition is the benchmark for the most successful public parks and open spaces across the globe. OJB is the recipient of the 2020 National Design Award in landscape architecture from the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian National Design Museum, and the 2015 Firm Award from the American Society of Landscape Architecture. Founder James Burnett, FASLA was awarded the ASLA Design Medal, its highest honor, in 2016.
