OKRA realizes architectonic intervention in Moscow at Sretenka Design Week

OKRA-Sretenka Design Week

At the opening of the Sretenka Design Week two objects, designed by OKRA are placed on a prominent spot on Tsvetnoy Bul’var in Moscow. The objects are designed as a demonstration model for interventions in public realm in Sretenka, one of Moscow’s oldest neighbourhoods. The objects are exemplary for the way interventions in public realm can take place, being a catalyst for development of spaces.

OKRA has designed the two elements, ‘objects of desire’, in a way that they can be linked in different ways. These modules form different features, depending on place and function, and when more elements are used, they even can be built to larger units, horizontally and vertically positioned. The structure can be adapted, extended, or moved, thus creating new and possibilities. The design of the objects is made in a way that modular L objects form a basis for interplay between two or objects of a different color. The objects are constructed, using ArchSkin, material produced in Moscow. Colors are shosen in a way that the ‘Objects of desire’ present themselves as modern objects in public realm.

At this moment the ‘objects of desire’ are an intervention on the micro scale, having positive effects on the way public realm works for people. They are now situated on Tsvetnoy Bul’var, however they can also be used on other places in Sretenka. Combinations of the elements can be a seating object, a public table, or a playground object. Related to position and combination they can activate several green spaces in the urban tissue. The idea is that the ‘objects of desire’ are a starting point for thoughts on changing public realm in Sretenka. A new constellation of public and semi-public spaces will be possible, new routes will be linked to these places and there will be new places where people of Moscow will enjoy their daily environment.
