Kathryn Gustafson has been awarded the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize for her contribution to architecture. Kathryn Gustafson, a landscape architect and the founding partner in two offices, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, in Seattle, and Gustafson Porter, in London. Her award-winning landscapes can be found throughout North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Both offices have won numerous competitions and have a wide variety of scale of work from furniture through to master planning.
Other winners of the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize include Michael Van Valkenburgh, Jean Nouvel, Elizabeth Diller, Toyo Ito, Dan Kiley, Frank Gehry, Richard Rogers, I.M. Pei, Norman Foster and many other talented designers.
Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize
Through a bequest from Emma Beatrice Brunner, widow of Arnold W. Brunner (1857-1925), the Academy, since 1955, has given an annual prize, now $5000, to an architect of any nationality who has made a contribution to architecture as an art.
