The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) has launched a call for entries for the 2016 Awards of Excellence. For 2016, the CSLA has modernize and revised the Awards program after a two year Awards Task Force drafted and received approval for the new Awards Program. The former program recognized awards on a citation, merit and honour basis, on both regional and national levels, in several categories including design, planning and research, communications and new initiatives.
With the modernized Awards of Excellence Program, submissions will be judged and awarded at two levels:
o National Awards (up to three per category), and
o Jury’s Award of Excellence (one per year)
National Awards will be made for work that demonstrates excellence against all judging criteria. These awards will become nominees for the Jury’s Award of Excellence, which will be given to a project which best demonstrates the CSLA’s vision (advancing the art, science and practice of landscape architecture).
The categories of awards are:
o Public Landscapes Designed by a Landscape Architect
o Residential Landscapes Designed by a Landscape Architect
o Planning and Analysis | Large-Scale Design
o Research | Communication
o New Directions | Conceptual Work
In addition, the Awards of Excellence jury will be responsible for jurying the new Legacy Project Award. The CSLA Legacy Project Award is intended to recognize distinguished landscape architecture projects.
The deadline for the 2016 CSLA Awards of Excellence Program is 22 January 2016.
