“The public space for the new business area Pegaso Park, West 8 designed for Inmobiliaria Urbanitas, has recently been completed. For the first time in Spain, the public space defines the quality of a business development for offices, retail, hotels and service buildings. The concept consists of various public spaces which create a clear address for the new enterprises and, at the same time, give the entire space a distinct identity, using the tools of landscape and urban design.”

Bridge Vlaardingse Vaart officially opened – West 8

“Saturday the 18th of April the new pedestrian bicycle bridge ‘The Twist’, designed by West 8 for the City of Vlaardingen, was officialy opened at the shores of the Vlaardingse Vaart in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands. In February the iconic bridge was already installed at its final destination becoming an expressive sculpture that establishes the moment of ‘crossing’. Now people can also use the bridge to cross the Vlaardingse Vaart as it is a crucial link within the regional bicycle path network.”

West 8 wins Almere Hout Noord competition

“The competition entry for Almere Hout Noord West 8 prepared for housing corporation Ymere was unanimously chosen by the municipal assembly of Almere as the winning design.

Alderman Adri Duivesteijn of Almere stated: “We are convinced by the quality of the plans and like the idea that the corporation – especially now as we are experiencing a economical crisis – will be co-initiator of Almere Hout Noord, where we will realize 4.200 dwellings and 2.500 workplaces”.”

Pruning and planting at Leidsche Rijn Park – West 8

West 8 reports

“To preserve the wonderful ancient alder thickets at the Leidsche Rijn Park, cutting back the trees is a heavy, but grateful chore. Together with the 100.000 new trees that are being planted at the moment, the existing planting will transform the newest part of Leidsche Rijn Park, the so called Binnenhof-West, into a beautiful green landscape. Besides planting the new trees, construction works also include re-excavating the Vikingrijn (a meander of the River Rhine) and constructing new tracks and bridges.”
