Evan Mather, a landscape architect in Los Angeles has launched a kickstarter (crowd-source funding)campaign to celebrate National Month of Landscape Architecture. From Sea To Shining Sea will be a feature-length, time-lapse documentary film, tracing the route of American settlement from Jamestown, Virginia to San Francisco, California primarily via the Interstate Highway System.

Henning Larsen Architects has been selected to design the European Spallation Source research centre. In a large international design contest, two winners were chosen: the concept by the Henning Larsen consortium, and the concept by the BIG/HOK consortium. In the end, HLA was selected to develop the final design.The ESS is Europe’s largest science current project. It will be the world-leading research facility for materials research and life science with neutrons.

“In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the topics of sea level rise and storm surge have never been so relevant. Susannah Drake, the Principal of dlandstudio, will discuss how landscape architecture and good environmental design can create new infrastructure systems that will result in more resilient cities and improved biodiversity.
