A new exhibition curated by The Building Centre and the Landscape Institute will exemplify how landscape architecture can offer sustainable solutions to the big challenges facing contemporary urban society including flooding and public health. The exhibition will feature 45 leading contemporary landscape projects from the UK and abroad. Showcasing some of the UK’s most powerful contemporary landscape projects including King’s Cross and the Olympic Park, alongside small, community-led schemes including pocket parks and community allotments, the exhibition will highlight the importance of investing in green infrastructure if our cities are to become more liveable, healthy and safe.

This project was developed with the purpose of generating more public spaces that would bring society together. With the help of a very big team of engineers, architects and our design firm this project was developed in 2 stages.

“Water Wuz Here” was a process-based installation that visualized the momentary presence of water in the urban landscape. The exhibit was featured in an art show entitled “Grow Op: Exploring landscape and place” at The Gladstone Hotel in late April 2014.

Envisioned as an urban grove, this central gathering space represents the convergence of community in this diverse, mixed income, residential development. The design accommodates a complex program, layering the varied multi-cultural and intergenerational uses with a number of meaningful gathering and recreational spaces for the residents. Tai Chi, chess, children’s play areas, and contemplative seating areas allow for various groups to utilize the garden spaces in different ways.  Lawn areas can be used for sunbathing in the summer and also provide the community with areas for flexible programming during larger gatherings, such as celebrations for the Chinese New Year, Russian Unity Day, and other cultural and civic events.

Dry Dock Park | Antwerp Belgium | cluster landschap

Today, the area composed by the former dry docks, on the northern side of the city of Antwerp, forms an urban void between the historical city center and the harbor. The City of Antwerp wants to transform the old harbor complex into an urban landscape-park respecting the original dry dock infrastructure as well as the existing tide.
