Milton Street Park is a proposed 1.2-acre linear urban park alongside the Ballona Creek Bike Trail in Los Angeles, California. Currently the bike trail is a non-descript paved path directly adjacent to the creek, separated from the road by a metal fence, which inevitably deters pedestrians and natural wildlife from sharing the space with recreational bikers.

Back in April we posted the announcement for Zaryadye Park Design Competition – the first public park built in Moscow for over 50 years. The organisers have announced that the received over 90 entries of which 87 teams were eligible for entry.  The list of team leaders shows that there is great interest from around the world with many of the teams having a track record of  winning major design competitions including Atelier Dreiseitl, Bjarke Ingels Group(BIG), Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Grant Associates, GROSS. MAX,  Gustafson Porter, HASSELL, James Corner Field Operations,  Mecanoo International, Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, MVRDV, OKRA,  Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten, REX Architecture,  Skidmore, Owings & Merrill(SOM), SWA Group, TOPOTEK 1, Turenscape, W Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Zaha Hadid and 66 other teams.

The next stage is to select a final six teams who will proceed to Stage 2 - Concept competition.

SWA gives a 'light touch' to 2018 Winter Olympics

SWA is the international planner and landscape architect for the design-build team, led by Taeyoung, that created the facilities at the heart of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. ”The master planning was driven by the desire to use a ‘light touch’ while creating exciting, highest-quality competition venues,” said Marco Esposito, a principal who led SWA’s team. “To create attractive, high quality facilities while maintaining the natural beauty of this hilly forested site, the design team pursued a compact, walkable development pattern, minimal grading, and extensive reforestation and waterway restoration.”

SWA Group design Mixed Use Fairgrounds in California

SWA Group-Mixed Use Fairgrounds-Solano360
SWA Group has been named to provide detailed site planning and a Specific Plan for the 149-acre Solano360 mixed-use development that will transform the County Fairgrounds property at I-80 and Highway 37 into a year-round destination. The project will integrate a new County fairgrounds with entertainment, retail, hospitality, event- and meeting-space, offices and open space. Solano360 is a joint effort of Solano County, the City of Vallejo and the Solano County Fair Association.
