The 55-acre on-structure landscape design for Qianshan New City sits atop two levels of parking and employs an aggressive topographic response and rich park program to humanize the unrelenting architectural density of its sixty 30-story towers serving 15,000 people.This mixed-use development, currently under construction, is recognized as the largest single-phase project in China. The project is located in Zhuhai, which borders Macau and is across the South China Sea from Hong Kong.

MVRDV wins transformation of Caen

SPLA, the public development agency in charge of the transformation of Presqu’ile de Caen, has chosen MVRDV out of 3 competitors to transform the 600ha area consisting of former industry and ports. The MVRDV plan envisions the future of Caen Presqu’ile as a collection of gardens surrounded by intensified urban area. It envisions Caen as an attractive city with a connection to the sea whilst interventions improve landscape, environment, mobility and connections. The project is planned to last ten years or longer…

Johns Hopkins Hospital | Baltimore USA | OLIN

OLIN has created the site design for The Johns Hopkins Hospital’s new patient care building in Baltimore, Maryland. The gardens, including the Entry Court Gardens, the Western Courtyard Gardens, the Phipps Courtyard and the Little Prince Garden, along with the soaring lobbies, a handpicked art collection and cheerful-light filled patient rooms are designed to provide a welcome and caring environment to advance the healing process. The $1.1billion building was dedicated on April 12, 2012.

The striking red Peace Bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava opened to the public with a community celebration on Saturday 24 March. The bridge design was unveiled in 2009 to varied opinions and created controvesy for its color, design and cost. Now that has faded into the background as the bridge has become a reality and opened to the public with many celebrating by crossing the bridge for the first time.
