Located in the outskirts of Chennai, India, Confluence is a unique project in its scale and aspiration. Conceived as a resort destination it also contains a convention building with a large lawn. The villa zone overlooks a lush central garden with series of pavilions and platforms terminating at the swimming pool in front of the club house building.

The 55-acre on-structure landscape design for Qianshan New City sits atop two levels of parking and employs an aggressive topographic response and rich park program to humanize the unrelenting architectural density of its sixty 30-story towers serving 15,000 people.This mixed-use development, currently under construction, is recognized as the largest single-phase project in China. The project is located in Zhuhai, which borders Macau and is across the South China Sea from Hong Kong.

The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013 is designed by multi award-winning Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. He is the thirteenth and, at 41, the youngest architect to accept the invitation to design a temporary structure for the Serpentine Gallery. The most ambitious architectural programme of its kind worldwide, the Serpentine’s annual Pavilion commission is one of the most anticipated events on the cultural calendar.

Paralleling the opening of London’s luxury NEO Bankside development next to the Tate Modern is the unveiling of a new city-centre green landscape. At NEO Bankside, Gillespies has created a series of richly-detailed garden spaces around the footprint of the apartment pavilions, designed by architects RSHP. The final landscape features soft planting inspired by native woodlands, balancing beautifully with the contemporary lines of the buildings. Unusually in the heart of a city, the outdoor spaces offer NEO Bankside’s residents opportunities to engage with nature, and create a new micro-ecological environment in this established urban setting.

Today, the Nederlandse Tuinbouwraad (NTR) announced the city of Almere, the winner of the 2022 Floriade, the world horticultural expo which takes place once every ten years in the Netherlands and is currently ending in Venlo. The MVRDV plan for Almere is not a temporary expo site but a lasting green Cité Idéale as an extension to the existing city centre. The waterfront site opposite the city centre will be developed as a vibrant new urban neighbourhood and also a giant plant library which will remain beyond the expo. Almere with MVRDV won the competition against Boskoop with OMA/Rem Koolhaas, Groningen with West 8 and Amsterdam Bijlmer with MTD Landscape Architect.

BDP has won the masterplan competition for the New Hospital and New Psychiatry Bispebjerg in the northern part of Copenhagen, Denmark. The winning project divides the site into four quarters with a green park in the centre and allows space for the beautiful, heritage-listed pavilions and green gardens.
