The use of the word “hof” within an English translation refers to a courtyard, farmyard, halo, quad or even corona. Historically the roots of this word traditionally translated as “temple”, none the less each describes a state of enclosure and sanctuary. McGregor Coxalls proposal for conversion of the Tempelhof Airfield in Berlin, Germany strategically integrates this poetic understanding with the sites existing built form, history, infrastructure and broader urban context.

The Southport Broadwater Parklands, with its spectacular Nerang River frontage and proximity to the Southport CBD, has long been a popular community gathering place on the Gold Coast. Realizing the potential for the parklands, the Gold Coast City Council applied for funding through the Q150 Legacy Infrastructure Program. Following the allocation of funding, which was matched by Council, AECOM was commissioned to develop the masterplan for the parklands and see the project through to the delivery of the first stage of construction.

In early June 2012 JMDdesign’s latest project, Blaxland Common Regional Playspace was officially opened. The new regional scale playground and associated kiosk, amenities block and car park were commissioned to expand the recreational opportunities of the Hargreaves and Associates masterplan designed for Blaxland Riverside Park.  The park is one of a number of parks that make up Sydney Olympic Parklands.

Populous’ design for the main stadium of the 2014 Asian Games is the integration of architecture and landscape. After the games the stadium will be linked to the surrounding parklands in legacy mode as temporary lightweight eastern stand is removed.
