The city of Tønsberg is situated on the south coast of Norway and has a long history of habitation, religion and fisheries. The prosess of revitalising the historical centre was inspired by nature and culture – the old and the new. Brannskjær Park will be built on Oslo’s most exciting and important post-industrial waterfront site, Filipstad, and will be by far the largest publically accessible open space within the Fjord City Plan. LINK Landskap’s sketch plan for this significant new public park will be used by the site’s owner, The Port Authority (Oslo Havn KF), to illustrate their aims and ambitions for the site and as a basis for future design development.

Møregaten street is closed for all vehicle traffic, and is used as a playground for the school and kindergarten as well as public recreation. Simple and robust natural materials, old linden trees and new flowering shrubs together with a new sculpted terrain make, what was formerly a dark back street, into an open and inviting public place, despite the fences necessary for safeguarding the children.

Jonas Dahlberg to design July 22 Memorial Sites in Norway

Director of KORO/Public Art Norway Svein Bjørkås announced recently the jury’s evaluation of submissions and final decision in the closed competition July 22 Memorial sites. The jury’s decision was unanimous, voting Swedish artist Jonas Dahlberg as winner of the competition.

Snøhetta introducing new ways of working to an American architecture

Snøhetta, a Norwegian an integrated landscape, architecture and interior firm based in Oslo and a smaller office in New York. The New York Office is featured in a Metropolis Magazine article by Belinda Lanks who looks at the egalitarian approach of Snøhetta and how it is working in the American market. Snøhetta offices are not just about open plan and different teams hot-desking, it is also creating a culture that is transparent, diverse and includes cross-discipline teams.  Lanks looks also into bonuses, pay scale and how hard it is for Snøhetta to maintain the culture as the firm grows.
