The parking field with tetrahedrons that evoke memories of anti-tank barricades. Parklaan under the instruction of Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie project office (New Dutch Waterline) and the Province of Utrecht creatively designed the main entrance of the New Dutch Waterline National Centre (and Limes). The most important challenge was to design a car park for 250 cars and a pedestrain access to Fort Vechten. The design was made in cooperation with the visual artist Paul de Kort.

The Billie Holiday park is situated in Loosduinen, a quiet suburb of The Hague. After a recent renovation of the park, this part seemed to be forgotten; it was an unused, neglected space. However, this changed when a residential-care complex was built. Suddenly, this part became a frontside, which created the possibility to transform this place into an attractive park zone, too. The community board organised a participation process, mapping the wishes of the local residents. Renovating the soccer field and guarding off the biking path were important starting points, just like improving the spatial structure of the park. By arranging all new functions in one binding element, the surrounding space is reorganised, too.

The location of Bellamy Park in Vlissingen is unique, certainly in the Netherlands and because of its relation to the Western Scheldt and the sea. The Bellamy Park, the de Ruyterplein and the Beursplein in Vlissingen form an ensemble of spaces in the context of a changing maritime town. The image of the big ships in town has disappeared. The maritime character presents itself much more refined. The town centre has enlarged itself psychologically, with the developments around the Arsenaal and the fishing harbour, and recently with redeveloped squares and streets.

The scale of the project is quite small, located on a rooftop on a typical Dutch city house built in 1909. Not only small by size, also old in terms of structure. Our ambition was to create a luscious garden space in between the ground and the clouds. In 2005 the roof decking was renewed. A wooden terrace (18 sqm, hardwood FSC), green roof part (approximately 30 sqm), sunroom, indoor stairs, and fence were added.

Last week we told you that 87 of the 90 submissions were eligible for entry into Zaryadye Park Design Competition. Yesterday, the jury held an eight-hour long meeting the Jury and selected six teams out of 90 applications. The main criteria was composition of a consortium, consisting of representatives of various specialties, and consortium portfolio. On 27 September 2013 the six participants will provide landscape and architectural concepts for Zaryadye park. After the technical expertise these projects will be presented to the Jury early November 2013. And later on the Winner will be involved in implementation of the project.
