The Landscape Institute 2014 Awards shortlist has been announced – entries include Eastside City Park, Birmingham, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon and Battersea Power Station Pavilion and Pop-Up Park.
The Landscape Institute Awards are presented annually to encourage and recognise outstanding examples of work by the landscape profession. This year’s shortlist, announced today, was drawn from entries received from all corners of the UK and overseas. The depth and range of the entries in all categories is testament to the depth and innovation present in these schemes.

The Landscape Institute has announced the shortlist for the 2013 Awards with some great projects vying for the President’s Award including Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, the Olympic Park design for the 2016 Rio Olympics, Gorky Park in Moscow and the transformation of London’s Leicester Square. The winner will be announced on the 21st November at a lunchtime ceremony hosted by Wayne Hemingway

The Landscape Institute has opened for registration for Awards 2013. Eligible work must be completed during the ten year period to the end of June 2013 and must be the work of either an individual chartered member of the Landscape Institute or an office, department or section headed by a chartered member of the Institute. Entries of all sizes and types are welcome and will be considered for 14 different categories. Deadline for registering is Tuesday 30 April and entries cost £145 +VAT per entry.
Students can also enter work that was completed in the last 3 years Work completed during the three year period and must have successfully completed a course accredited by the Landscape Institute. It is free to enter the Student Awards.

Just arrived in the WLA mailbox is the Autumn edition of Landscape – The Journal of the Landscape Institute. This edition covers the Landscape Institute Awards 2012 and also a few interesting articles about 2016 Olympics Rio masterplan, Remaking Cities and the Highline for London Competition. The section I enjoyed reading was Debate – Should landscape architects be activists?. Landscape is published quarterly by the Landscape Institute.
