The Ojama installation is about creating a hindrance or momentary interruption in our daily experience of space. This temporary art installation is an exploration of space, time, materiality, and our experience of nature in the urban environment.

Crow Wood Playscape | Cheshire UK | Davies White Landscape Architects

Davies White Landscape Architects gained national recognition for their Crow Wood Playscape in Cheshire when they won a Landscape Institute Design Award earlier this year. The project sits in the historic National Trust woodland estate at Lyme Park in Cheshire and is now open all year round.

Their Playscape design approach is an innovative way to encourage children to create their own play and shape it within and around the natural landscape. Crow Wood Playscape features a bespoke tree house, interconnecting timber and rope walkways, giant willow eggs, two tunnels, a wide slide and huge badger set.

Eye of Africa is a residential golf community in Johannesburg, South Africa. Landscape Architects Uys & White (Pty) Ltd was briefed for the development of an appropriate park system which is sensitive to the environment and will provide for the needs of residents, the development of a landscape and streetscape theme which is generated by the natural Highveld environment. Uys & White  won a 2011 Corobrik-ILASA Award of Excellence in the category Planning & Design for Eye of Africa Phase 1.

EXTRASTUDIO in collaboration with landscape architects Oficina dos Jardins, won the competition for Tavira’s Island Regeneration, in Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal.Launched by Sociedade Polis Litoral Ria Formosa in collaboration with ParqueExpo and Tavira’s Municipality, the project includes the exist-ing infra-structures and landscape re-qualification.

Sociedade Polis was generated by Parquexpo, the public company responsible for the construction and management of Lisbon’s EXPO 98, and which as since then the major players behind the successful urban regeneration in all major Portuguese cities, using architecture as a key element in the modernization of public space. Since 2009 both compa-nies have been addressing the coastline re-qualification of Algarve.

Walk the Line - STREET WORKS | Sydney Australia | HASSELL

#UPDATE – Walk the line has now been installed on the Streets of Sydney as part of the STREET WORKS initiative of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects(AILA), NSW. The various sites including Walk the line will be in place from 21 October 2011 until January 2012.

HASSELL  is to reactivate under-utilised city spaces with Walk the Line,  a simple painted line that turns into a game in selected areas. Street corners will become hopscotch pitches, bat tennis courts and marbles fields; stairs will turn into waterfalls and road crossings transformed into arcade games.
