With the London 2012 Olympic over and the Paralympic Games soon to begin, but it won’t be long the all the teams and fans will be at home and the Olympics Park will be empty. The question always comes up what now for the venues, parks and infrastructure that was built for the Olympics? Well the legacy planning has been in the works with the Mayor setting up the London Legacy Development Corporation that will be “setting and maintaining standards for quality of design, construction and urban planning, to ensure a sustainable and enduring legacy for the Park”.

James Corner Field Operations selected for Navy Pier
The Navy Pier Inc. (NPI) Board recently announced that design firm James Corner Field Operations (JCFO) has been selected to help reimagine Navy Pier’s public spaces, an effort designated as “Pierscape.”  Corner and his team were among the five finalists in Navy Pier’s search for a Pierscape design team that began six-months ago with 52 submissions from around the globe to redesign the Pier’s public spaces.

High Line Section 3 Designs Unveiled

Friends of the High Line Co-Founder Robert Hammond was joined by the New York City Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe and members of the High Line Design Team to present initial design concepts for Section 3 of the High Line, the final stretch of the historic freight rail line that has been converted to a public park, that will wrap around the Hudson Yards between West 30th and West 34th Streets.

MOCAD selects James Corner Field Operations & Rice+Lipka Architects for major renovation

Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) have selected James Corner Field Operations and Rice+Lipka Architects (RLA/JCFO) to plan a building and site renovation that has been funded by a LINC/Ford Foundation Space for Change grant.

The goal of this process is to refurbish MOCAD’s facility and transform the site to activate the exterior by way of an outdoor space for Museum programming and improved visibility on the building’s Woodward frontage.
