Green Park, a business community near Reading, designed in the mid-1990s, recently won a prestigious UK Civic Trust Award (2014). Place Design and Planning, a London-based landscape architecture and urban design practice, has been responsible for the 195 acres landscape scheme and continues to develop it with the current owners, Oxford Properties, and the estates management company, Broadgate Estates.

In the early summer of 2013, HOK was invited to participate in a design competition for the 2017 Expo Design in Astana – the rapidly developing capital of Kazakhstan. The theme for the expo; “Future Energy”, challenged entrants to demonstrate the use of innovative technologies capable of affecting people’s perception of energy and green development.

Curtin University Place Activation Plan | Perth Australia | PLACE Laboratory
Code-named Curtin City the project will deliver a new population of students, researchers and residents of up to 70,000 people living and working in Perth’s newest knowledge economy. Connected to the city by the MAX light rail transit, Curtin City will be only minutes from downtown Perth enabling the rapid exchange of business and research ideas.
Dubai has been chosen as the site of the 2020 World Expo. HOK led designer of the team that developed the master plan for the Expo, which is expected to draw more than 25 million visitors from October 2020 through April 2021. Dubai’s selection – themed “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” – was announced Nov. 27 by representatives of the 167 Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) member nations. Selected over three cities in Brazil, Russia and Turkey, Dubai will become the first Middle Eastern city to host the event in its 160-year history.
