‘Jaanila Country’ by KCAP with Felixx awarded with Habitat award for public space design

Jaanila Country, a masterplan by KCAP Architects & Planners has been awarded with the Habitat award for the best residential public space design in the Leningrad region (St. Petersburg), Russia. The public space of Jaanila Country has been developed in cooperation with landscape architects Felixx. It was chosen as first prize winner out of a selection of 13 nominated projects. The regional Habitat contest is hosted by the Leningrad Union of Building Organisations and has been held for the first time. It aims to honor new developments for their contribution to the public environment.

For New York–a metropolis realized on its maritime potentialities–oceanic borders now threaten America’s most populous region and premiere city. Illustrated through the ongoing havoc and devastation caused by tropical storm Sandy, in New York City climate change has become an irrevocable reality. In response to this unprecedented environmental crisis Spoil Islands envisions landscape architectural interventions that utilizes local dredge material and improve dredge-related practices to abate coastal flooding and enhance coastal habitat.

The London 2012 Olympic Park is one of the most significant new pieces of urban realm to have been created in living memory. LDA Design  in collaboration with Hargreaves Associates has led the design of the Parklands and Public Realm for the entire 102 hectare site and has masterminded its transformation from contaminated industrial land into a 21st century park. The practice has also led the design of its post- Games transformation into a permanent public park. Forming the centre piece of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2.5km2 Olympic Park is the largest new urban park in the capital since the Victorian era and is a catalyst for regeneration in East London.

Connecting the Seven Lochs Wetland Park Design Competition

At almost 20 sq km the Seven Lochs Wetland Park will be Scotlandʼs largest urban nature park, and a major new destination for outdoor recreation. The Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) in association with Glasgow and Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership (GCVGNP) and Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) are pleased to invite entries from design professionals and students to produce concept design proposals to connect two key sites within the Seven Lochs Wetland Park, a major new destination for outdoor recreation expected to attract over one million visitors per year.

The Sandgrund Park in Karlstad, Sweden, has undergone a major change from being an unused peninsula of sand, transforming into an attractive park in the middle of the city. The new park now offers lush valleys, viewpoints and extensive boardwalks by the river.
