Warrior Square gardens in Southend have newly reopened following a new design by Gillespies. Situated in the heart of its shops and public amenities – the regeneration of this key public space is a cornerstone in the town’s revival. The space now offers a vibrant green space in what had previously been a neglected late-Victorian square, which had become a haven for anti-social behaviour.

In 2004 following devastating fires in January 2003 and inspired by Griffins’ vision for the National Capital, the ACT Government developed a proposal for an International Arboretum to be established on a 250 hectare site six kilometres from the centre of Canberra, at the western side of Lake Burley Griffin. In 2004 the ACT Government held an international design competition and Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) / Tonkin Zulaikha Greer’s (TZG) entry, 100 Forests / 100 Gardens was selected as a result of a two stage selection process.

MVRDV design of the Flowerbed Hotel in Aalsmeer, Netherlands isa 19.500m2 Hotel and conference centre devoted entirely to flowers will be located next to the future Bloomin’ Holland theme park and business centre. The Hotel with 280 rooms will include 2.100m2 flowerbeds and host tourists and business travellers.

A team comprising We Made That and Free Play have been chosen as the winner of the Three Mills Green Play-space competition, which sought proposals for designs for a new play-space located near the Olympic Park in the borough of Newham, East London.
We Made That and Free Play were selected from a shortlist of four teams, following an open call for expressions of interest, which yielded over 60 entries from practices and design teams from around the world. The other shortlisted teams were erect architecture, Kinnear Landscape Architects, and Studio Weave with Wayward Plants.
