Architectural Competition – Concours d’Architecture [AC-CA] have announced a single stage cometition to design a Champagne Bar along the Paris river “Seine” and by the romantic “Pont des Arts”.
The competition hopes to achieve the following:
_Encourage and reward design excellence at a medium scale which integrates function, structure and details.
_Research and investigate the various combination possibilities to create a social space within the city.
_To generate the discussion of ideas regarding the relation between architecture and water.
_Encourage the employment of sustainable design in all aspects of the proposal.

For a long time the historic canals in the urban landscape of Rotterdam were forgotten. Today water plays the prominent role, that once it had within the city and can be discovered by visitors once again. The transformation of Stadwater is in fact a reversion of the relationship between the city and its urban canals. Since medieval times the urban water was not orientated towards the water, resulting in back-sides of the buildings along the water and anonymous public realm along the water, such as parking spaces and delivery roads. The canal route was fragmented, all having their own name: Stokviswater, Haagse Veer, Delftse Vaart, Zijl, Steigersgracht, en de Leuvekolk.

Henning Larsen Architects has been selected to design the European Spallation Source research centre. In a large international design contest, two winners were chosen: the concept by the Henning Larsen consortium, and the concept by the BIG/HOK consortium. In the end, HLA was selected to develop the final design.The ESS is Europe’s largest science current project. It will be the world-leading research facility for materials research and life science with neutrons.

In-between the federal motorway A3 and the Frankfurt Airport (Fraport), the new administration building of the Deutsche Lufthansa AG is located. A transparent glass façade protects the inside against emission. The building shape, which appears like a two-sided comb, creates an interval of office areas and atriums, so that every wing of the building is framed by two green atriums.

More than 12000 phosphorescent cable ties form three artificial structures at a forest in Bamberg, Bavaria. The project is part of the regional garden show Landesgartenschau and resulted from a design competition in 2011 and realised in 2012.
