The landscape design is influenced strongly by the bold geometries of the building as well as seeking to provide more intimate and human scale spaces.

Susannah Drake, the Principal of dlandstudio recently gave a lecture at the D-Crit (Design Criticism Department), School of Visual Arts in New York.

“In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the topics of sea level rise and storm surge have never been so relevant. Susannah Drake, the Principal of dlandstudio, will discuss how landscape architecture and good environmental design can create new infrastructure systems that will result in more resilient cities and improved biodiversity. Drake will also argue how data visualization can improve understanding about the financial incentives of good environmental design, and help untangle the bureaucratic web surrounding complex jurisdictional environments.” Video Description Excerpt

Visionary (re)Generation | Design Competition

The University of Manitoba in partnership with Manitoba Hydro has launched an international design competition seeking visionary design proposals for its 279-hectare (690-acre) Fort Garry Campus in Winnipeg, Canada. The campus includes the Southwood Lands, a 49-hectare (120-acre) former golf course that will become a new “sustainable” neighbourhood within the university boundaries.

Jinzhou World Landscape Art Exposition | Jinzhou China | estudioOCA
We envision this project as an opportunity to reach a large number of people, where we are able to showcase the use of native plants in a region and country that has been going through extensive ecological changes in a short period of time. We hope to bring a fresh perspective to these plants and their original habitats, using the pavilion space to showcase, through graphic materials, the different ecosystems where the plants originate. The plant palette will consist of native grasses, wetland plants such as cattails, and native trees.
