WLA – our new landscape architecture quarterly

WLA is a new quarterly landscape architecture digital zine. WLA provides the opportunity for firms, designers, educators and students to present their ideas and projects on the international stage. WLA encourages the distribution of information and knowledge to everyone across the world.

We have chosen to publish in digital format for quicker and wider distribution and to offer an alternative to those who wish to reduce their impact on the earth by not using trees and inks for printing. We transport WLA using 1’s & 0’s rather by sea, air or road. We are using the Magcloud platform to distribute WLA through a high resolution digital edition at $3.99 and a print-on-demand hard copy edition at $18.00USD that can be ordered and shipped to your door. The hard copy edition receives a free copy of the high resolution digital version.  We plan to be digital-only in the near future.

Contributors  include James Corner Field Operations, Minneapolis Riverfront, JMD, Design, Valentien+Valentien, and ACT along with others in this 76 page zine.

We hope to invigorate the Landscape Architecture profession that is constantly growing in knowledge and members across the world. Landscape Architects are working on every continent to provide solutions to landscape problems that will enrich the lives of billions, we hope to help showcase those solutions to the world with WLA.

Landscape Architecture Magazine goes digital – Landscape Architecture Magazine & ASLA

Today, J. William “Bill” Thompson, FASLA, Editor of the Landscape Architecture magazine launched the digital version of the magazine with the April issue. The announcement via Email gave all recipients a complimentary copy for National Landscape Architecture Month

Bill stated in his email that

“Annual subscriptions to the digital version of Landscape Architecture may be purchased for $44.25 per year and single issues may be purchased for $5.25 each, 25 percent off the newsstand price.  Current ASLA members and magazine subscribers may choose to receive the magazine in digital format in lieu of print when it is time to renew their membership or subscription.  In addition, knowing that many readers keep their magazines for several years for research purposes, past issues of Landscape Architecture going back to May 2006 are being uploaded for single-copy purchase. 

Digital issues of Landscape Architecture will be searchable and search-engine-optimized, increasing the magazine’s usefulness for research and archiving.  Interactive and multi-media capabilities will also be embedded in the digital issues, allowing readers to link directly to related online information.”
