The Mission Hills Hot Springs and Spa is an outdoor themed amenity area for the new 500 room luxury Mission Hills Haikou hotel. The site is approximately 65,000m2 of lush tropical landscape and rockwork and nearly 300 themed individual pool spa experiences from around the world.

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently launched REBUILD BY DESIGN, a multi-stage regional design competition. The goal of the competition is to attract world-class talent, promote innovation and develop projects that will actually be built. Once the best ideas are identified, HUD will incentivize their implementation using funds made available through the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program as well as other public and private funds. Examples of design solutions are expected to range in scope and scale – from large-scale green infrastructure to small-scale residential resiliency retrofits.

Minneapolis Parks Foundation recently announced the shorlist for the Water Works park schematic design project. The three shortlisted teams include
- Gustafson Guthrie Nicol with VJAA and Interboro (Seattle/Minneapolis/New York);
- SCAPE with Rogers Marvel (New York);
- Team West 8 (Rotterdam/New York).
A ﬁve-member Designer Selection Committee chose the teams from a pool of 27 responses representing seven U.S. states and ﬁve European countries to the April RFP for schematic design for a new urban park on “America’s fourth coast.”
