AIDS Memorial Park Design Competition
Organizers of New York City’s proposed AIDS Memorial Park  today announced the winners of their design competition. First place was awarded to Brooklyn, NY’s studio a+i: Mateo Paiva, Lily Lim, John Thurtle, Insook Kim, and Esteban Erlich, with a rendering by Guillaume Paturel, for their design “Infinite Forest.” The design was selected from 475 entries submitted between November 29, 2011 and January 21, 2012, representing more than 26 U.S. states and 32 countries on six continents.

Walk the Line - STREET WORKS | Sydney Australia | HASSELL

#UPDATE – Walk the line has now been installed on the Streets of Sydney as part of the STREET WORKS initiative of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects(AILA), NSW. The various sites including Walk the line will be in place from 21 October 2011 until January 2012.

HASSELL  is to reactivate under-utilised city spaces with Walk the Line,  a simple painted line that turns into a game in selected areas. Street corners will become hopscotch pitches, bat tennis courts and marbles fields; stairs will turn into waterfalls and road crossings transformed into arcade games.

Shortlist for London Olympic Park Legacy Design Competitions announced

More than 100 teams from across Europe, Asia and North America submitted expressions of interest to create two new distinctive areas that will bring together a vibrant mix of
cultural events, beautiful spaces and recreational uses for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The centrepiece will be a major public space that will welcome crowds to the south park. Sitting between the Aquatics Centre, the Stadium, the ArcelorMittal Orbit and the 2012
Gardens, this urban landscape will have a South Bank feel with plans for a visitor centre, water features, imaginative play facilities and host a range of diverse festivals and
performances.

The second area will be set within the stunning green river valley in the north park and has potential to include one of London’s most inspiring playgrounds and a visitor centre with a
café and seating terrace, along with indoor multi-purpose space for community-use.

OKRA-REDISCOVER-BASEL-Design-Competition

The team of OKRA, Maxwan A+U, and Basler&Hofmann has won the competition for the concept design of the Basel city centre. The proposal provides an overall view on quality of public realm in the city centre for the next decades, and focuses on creating a green and vibrant landscape city, providing spaces that create a ‘shared space 2.0’. The plan provides tools for transformation of a large area in the city centre, expanding from the train station SBB and the railway station Badischer Bahnhof on the other side of the river Rhine. Even more than today, the Basel city centre will be a focal point for the entire tri-national, expanding over the German and French borders.

HASSELL wins Zhuhai Cross Gate CBD Landscape Design Competition

Zhuhai Cross Gate CBD Landscape Design Competition
HASSELL is pleased to announce it has been awarded first prize in the Zhuhai Cross Gate CBD competition. The winning scheme included the landscape architecture for the Cross Gate CBD, an area of 94.65 hectares located between Macau and Hengqin Island in Southern China.
