Al Maryah Island | Abu Dhabi UAE | Broadway Malyan

The concept masterplan for Al Maryah Island (formerly Sowwah Island) recently renamed by the Abu Dhabi Municipality, in recognition of its economic and historical importance and geographic location, has been approved.The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) has approved the plan, which covers over 3.5 million sqm of mixed-use development across commercial, residential, retail, hospitality and community uses, and will become the center of Abu Dhabi’s New Central Business District (CBD).

Waterbank | Perth Australia | HASSELL

Waterbank is located in East Perth, on the edge of the CBD and the Swan River. The six hectare site will be developed over the next seven to ten years, and aims to generate more than 8,000 jobs. The staged development includes the construction of approximately 700 residential dwellings (apartments and townhouses), up to 20,000 square metres of commercial office space and approximately 4,000 square metres of retail space. Potentially, a hotel and a significant public realm, including green spaces, wetlands, riverfront promenades, a town square and the Hay Street pier, will follow.

SOM wins Beijing Bohai Innovation City Master Plan Competition

SOM Beijing Bohai Innovation City Master Plan
A new model of compact, environmentally enhanced urban design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) for the rapid development of satellite cities along Chinese high speed rail corridors has won an international design competition with its Beijing Bohai Innovation City master plan. The winning SOM plan leverages the economic and lifestyle assets of the Beijing-Tianjin corridor by centering the new environmentally friendly district along the high-speed-rail line linking the national capital to the port city of Tianjin. The city expansion will host 17.6 million square meters of mixed-use development, with a focus on providing a premier headquarters location for advanced industries in the dynamically growing Bohai Rim, a region that already accounts for more than a quarter of China’s GDP.
